Fantastic summer weather and enthusiastic visitors at the SCHLOSSFESTSPIELE SCHWERIN 2018

For the first time in almost two decades there were two productions at the SCHLOSSFESTSPIELE SCHWERIN, attracting around 25,000 guests from Schwerin and all over the world.

Both productions were staged especially for the very special conditions of the festival. Both the opera "Tosca" on the Old Garden and the play "Dracula" in the historic courtyard of the palace inspired the audience very much and conjured up unique experiences under a starry sky with their breathtaking backdrops.

Toni Burkhardt, under the musical direction of General Music Director Daniel Huppert, staged the Puccini classic on the Old Garden for lovers of the great Italian opera works. In addition to renowned artists such as Erica Eloff and Rodrigo Porras Garulo, stage designer Wolfgang Kurima Rauschning and costume designer Adriana Mortelliti contributed to unforgettable evenings.

The most famous vampire in the world conquered Schwerin Castle and so it was not surprising that all 7,900 tickets for "Dracula" were sold out in advance. The production by Krzysztof Minkowski with stage design and costumes by Konrad Schaller as well as music by Micha Kaplan made the audience shudder at the Victorian horror classic.

The long-lasting fantastic summer weather also provided the perfect conditions for a successful open-air evening, not least at almost all performances. See for yourself:
